Principles & Values
Community Living Kawartha Lakes will:
- Only undertake activities that deliver value, offer high quality and are economically feasible.
- Communicate with and educate key stakeholders to facilitate a greater understanding and alignment between their expectations and Community Living Kawartha Lake's vision.
- Hold itself and its users jointly responsible for program deliverables (outcomes) and costs.
- Work with others to achieve results since it cannot do everything on its own.
- Ensure that all programs and services promote self-determination, that people supported have meaningful inclusion in the decision-making process, and their choices direct the planning process.
- Ensure that all people with a developmental challenge are respected for their human worth and dignity, and have the same rights and responsibilities of other community members.
- Enhance and strengthen natural/informal support systems so that families and social networks can continue to support persons with developmental challenges.
- Ensure the people we support are free from abuse and neglect.
- Strive to provide people with equal access to services based on need.
